Details

A student sustained a cut through the fingernail and into the nail bed of the left index finger when it made contact with the blade of a band saw. The student had been cutting a V-shaped cut into a 2X4-inch piece of wood. The student was going to make a second cut and reached across with the right hand to activate the power switch, which was situated on the left side. This resulted in the worker's left index finger contacting the blade.
