Committees

All about accountability

Workplace health and safety committees play a valuable role at the office or on the jobsite. They not only promote a greater safety culture - they work to keep employers and other employees accountable for their actions as far as health and safety are concerned.

The primary role of a health and safety committee is to oversee an organization's health and safety program. Committees also act as theĀ go-between for workers and management - allĀ health and safety concerns are directed at th ecommittee, who make recommendations to management and ultimately solve problems.

But in order for committees to be effective, they must also be highly organized and proactive.

This section is designed to help organizations form their committees and also to guide existing committees towards a safer and healthier workplace.

Here you will find resources to improve safety, minutes for committees to submit following their respective meetings and a schedule of training opportunities for committee organizers and members.
