H1N1 Flu Facts - for employers and workers in non-healthcare settings
The H1N1 flu virus is spread exactly like any other seasonal flu – from one person to another by coughing or sneezing, by hand-to-hand contact with an infected person, or after handling objects contaminated by infected people.
While it can be difficult to eliminate exposure to the H1N1 virus, or any virus, every Manitoban can help to protect themselves.
If you or other persons experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, joint/muscle aches, or weakness/severe fatigue, there are routine measures you can take to help prevent the spread of the flu, including:
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
- Cough/sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue
- Stay at home and limit contact with others
Our new SAFE Work Bulletin provides these and more H1N1 Flu Facts in greater detail to help decrease your risk of exposure to the virus.
