Back Injury

A worker was lifting a cage full of laptops when the worker felt pain in the lower back.

Broken Femur

A worker was at the right rear of a trailer attempting to secure the lift gate prior to repair. The worker was standing on the second rung from the top of a six foot ladder. The worker reached to secure the gate with a chain. As the worker reached out, the ladder slipped sending the worker to the floor. The worker extended the right leg to break the fall which resulted in a broken femur.

Broken Finger

A worker sustained a cut on the right pinkie finger while bolting a mud flap onto a truck.

Broken Hip

While a worker was loading 2x6 lumber, the worker tripped and fell, landing on a dry, hard packed dirt surface. The worker suffered a broken hip.

Eye Injury

A worker was uncrating a snow blower attachment when a staple from the crating struck the worker's eye.

Fractured Ankle

A worker was operating a pallet jack. The worker's foot slipped off the machine and hit the wall. The worker suffered a hairline fracture to the right ankle.

Fractured Left Arm

Worker #1 was working on a scaffold beside a 53-foot-long rail container and had stepped onto the frame of the container. Worker #2 pulled the scaffold away from the container. Worker #1 stepped back from the container to where the scaffold plank was expected to be, and fell approximately four feet to the hard surface below. The worker sustained a fractured left arm.

Fractured Nose

A worker was operating a lift truck when the fork of the truck stuck a steel column beam, ejecting the worker forward into the lift truck window resulting in a fractured nose.

While cleaning the back of a bread slicer, the worker sustained a laceration to the upper right middle finger.

A worker was cutting meat using a band saw. The worker's hand slipped and the right index finger contacted the blade.

A worker was isntalling steel rims on a vehicle and sustained a cut to the right thumb as it rolled off the edge of the rim.

A worker was using a gasket scraper to clean gasket remains off of a part. The worker lost control of the scraper and it hit the worker's left thumb, resulting in a laceration.

A worker cut the left ring fingertip while attempting to adjust the meat in the carriage of a meat slicer while the slicer was in the on position.

Laceration to Finger

A worker was cutting bread when someone called their name and the worker looked away. The worker cut the tip of either the left index or middle finger.

Laceration to Left Hand

A worker sustained a laceration to the left hand while slicing tomatoes with a slicer.

Near Miss

A passerby noticed a fire at a workplace. The fire department was called and a fireman reported the fire was in a suspended natural gas heater. There was a hole in the heater, which could have resulted in high levels of carbon monoxide.

Near Miss

A pallet of automotive batteries (36 per pallet) slipped and fell to the floor with some of the batteries breaking and spilling acid onto the floor. There were no injuries.

New Workplace Safety and Health Regulations Effective February 1, 2011

The Workplace Safety and Health Regulation is changing to include new requirements to protect workers from psychological harassment in the workplace. The new provisions will address psychological harassment, such as intimidation, bullying and humiliation.
