Manitoba Construction Sector Council helps workers

Every company in Manitoba should be concerned about training our existing workforce and new hires.

Some 12,400 new entrants will be required in Manitoba construction between now and 2018 to replace the number of workers retiring and to meet increased project demands. Training will be an integral part of meeting the increasing demand for workers. Training improves employee and company performance, improves customer and employee satisfaction and retention and provides a direct return on investment.

The Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC) exists so training and other human resources needs of the construction industry are advanced.

The organization’s mandate is to:

  • identify the training needs of the construction industry,
  • facilitate, deliver and/or develop programs to address those needs,
  • evaluate the effectiveness of this training
  • attract new entrants into the industry.

How can the MCSC help you?

By either providing direct training opportunities or directing you to a number of different programs and services to address your company’s human resource challenges. Some examples are listed below.

Workforce Development Solutions  A team can meet with your company to assess your particular human resource (business supports, planning, recruitment, training, succession planning, etc.) issues, and then assist you in accessing appropriate resources. There is no fee involved in the initial assessment.

MCSC can arrange training sessions for your workforce or engage your company in existing ongoing programs such as:

  • On-the-Job Mentorship/Training Program
  • Building Supervisors for Tomorrow
  • Pre-Employment Construction Training Program

MCSC also offers a Construction Career Expo, MCSC/CSC e-Learning Centre.

The organization works every day to help companies find a skilled workforce and cooperates with a number of existing programs which are designed to develop the skills of your workforce, and/or attract individuals to construction.

For more information on these or any other MCSC programs, please call (204) 272-5093 or visit MCSC online.
