New Workplace Safety and Health Regulations
The
Workplace Safety and Health Regulation has changed to include new requirements to protect workers from workplace violence. These changes will take effect on August 31, 2011.

Earlier changes to the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation (February 1, 2011) included new requirements to protect workers from psychological harassment in the workplace, such as intimidation, bullying and humiliation. It is important to note that normal and reasonable management actions, including discipline, are not defined as psychological harassment.

Other technical changes to the Regulation (effective February 1, 2011) provide clear direction to employers and workers on the steps necessary to control workplace hazards and strengthen the requirements for the use of personal protective equipment.
