Before beginning any task that involves a circular saw, ensure
your clothes fit to your body to avoid getting caught in the saw. Also be sure
to remove all jewelry and tie back long hair.
Next, follow these steps:
- Read and understand the operations manual that accompanies your circular saw.
- Ensure guards and guides are in place, operable and used at all times.
- Ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source and clear the work area of debris and obstructions.
- Inspect the saw for anything out of the ordinary. Maintain a sharp blade and ensure the appropriate blade has been properly installed.
- Check the electrical chord for damage.
- Ensure you wear the appropriate personal protective equipment: eye protection or face shield, hearing protection and protective footwear.
- Plug in and start the saw. Observe the saw blade for rotation and wobble before performing a cut.
- Keep both hands firmly on the saw handles and use clamps to secure the material to be cut. Keep hands away from the saw blade.
- Cut your material.
