Train the Trainer course offers Brandon summer workers tips on SAFE Work
Did you know?
- New and young workers are at higher risk of being injured on the job?
- Half of all injuries occur in the first six months of employment regardless of age?
- In Manitoba, about 6000 young workers (15 – 24years) are injured each year?
- New and young workers more likely to be injured than experienced counterparts?
- Males 20-24 are 50% more likely to be injured on the job than any other group of workers
By installing in new workers a strong sense of the importance of safe and healthy work practices, you can reinforce safe work habits that will remain with them for the rest of their work life.
To that end, managers and employers in Brandon have an opportunity this month to learn how to train new and young summer staff to be SAFE on the job.
The Train the Trainer Workshop on Orientating New and Young Workers is presented by Safe Communities Brandon and Area and the province’s Workplace Safety and Health Division and focuses on safety and health concerns and providing resources for a good orientation for new and younger workers.
To date, 75 employers in Brandon and area have participated in the workshop.
The workshop takes place March 17, 2010 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
